Dreh’sden – Identity and Myths of a Town
The reason where the name “Dresden” comes from is not centred during this tour. Instead we discover by whom and why the glory and reputation of the capital of Saxony got shaped during our walk along the crown gate of the Zwinger, Frauenkirche / Church of our Lady and the synagogue. The city’s history is shown in a relationship between the association of Dresden citizens with “their” town and the traditional consciousness as well as transfiguration. Look at Dresden from a special point of view while searching for the tracks of the not so well known history.
This guided tour is also recommended for first time visitors.

Dresden at Night
It is not getting silent in the old kings town. No night-watch-man is calling out the midnight hour anymore and no citizen is reminded to go to bed. No night-watch-man? Wait!
In times of equality of rights we would like to introduce you to our night-watch-woman. You can explore the nightly magic of the town with her. She knows to tell many strange stories. So your path to the fresh making drink is not going to be boring. Enjoy a great view of the lit up nightly skyline of Dresden at the end of this tour.

Dresden’s Secret Centre
A guided walking tour by “Dresden’s Secret Centre” (www.dresdens-heimliche-mitte.de)
When in other parts of the town they roll up the sidewalks, life just starts in the district we like to introduce you to. In the street scene “Colourful Republic New Town” (Bunte Republik Neustadt) you find a mix of lucky fellows, natives and strolling passer-bys. The charm of the foundation period attracts brokers, Punks, ordinary citizens and also foreigners at the same time. With the highest density of pubs it is probably Germany’s best example for living tolerance. Our walking tour includes history you can touch and exciting contemporary history, “bath tub” and “zoo” and ends in the creative decorated art courtyards (Kunsthöfe).

Dresden from Behind
In 1989 smokestack “Aurora” was still smoking and helped quickly to turn the fresh white snow to become grey. The former Fritz-Heckert Square, today Wettin Square, is just a couple of walking minutes away from Dresden’s famous city centre but it seems like being in a total different town. Although “Aurora” and the power plant Mitte don’t work anymore today and the close-by houses are nicely renovated, here life proceeds at a different pace. There are stories about the poor citizens and shooting guys, green ideas and green alleys, about the planned, the built, the forgotten and the hurt. Approach Dresden from a different and unexpected perspective! The tour ends where the other sightseeing tours usually start – at the Dresden Zwinger.

“On a heavenly latter to Wachwitz”
History and present of the wonderful districts Loschwitz and Wachwitz are revealed by colourful autumn leaves in a very romantic way. Probably no miracles helped that many artists got inspired by this area for their works. Our stroll leads us to Christian Palace (once belonging to the Wettin family), passes through the formerly royal vineyard and ends in Altwachwitz. When you reached the end of this tour you can be proud to say “I already walked the heavenly latter”.
